Coming Full Circle at Go Raw DC

Dreadlocks and African garbs swayed as those wearing them greeted me and passed by my table at health and natural food fair Go Raw DC. The five-hour event felt more like a homecoming than an opportunity to display and sell products and honor Dr. Sebi.
Former colleagues from radio station WHUR showed up, including one that caused my wide-eyed expression. John Davies stood about five feet away from my table waiting for me to notice him. I did. I flew over to him and wrapped my arms around his slender waist with a cub hug. He’s still a vegetarian, no doubt.
If you’ve had a chance to read Sojourn to Honduras Sojourn to Healing, you know John Davies is the man who introduced me to Dr. Sebi in Washington, D.C. over 20 years ago. Seeing him at Go Raw DC was truly a full circle moment.
John’s no longer a radio engineer. He transitioned full throttle into the world of wellness, positive energy and natural healing, helping his wife Ayo Handy-Kendi teach breathing and meditation techniques via her company Positive Energy Works LLC. John plays soothing percussive music while Ayo speaks, much like musicians Hamiet Bluiett and Taiwo Duval when they accompanied Dr. Sebi’s lectures. I’m confident Dr. Sebi would give John and Ayo a thumbs up.
Adio Akil organized Go Raw DC well. Hats off to her and Praises Enterprises. Accolades are also in order for her decision to re-open the Community Warehouse, the facility that helped launch Dr. Sebi’s practice in the United States.

I’d like to thank Adio for giving me an opportunity to speak for the first time to the public about Sojourn to Healthy Eating as well as Sojourn to Honduras Sojourn to Healing and Seven Days in Usha Village: A Conversation with Dr. Sebi. I’m thinking it’s something I’d like to do again. Reading comments on the internet is good, but face to face engagement with the public is awesome.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to Redmond Trading Company for donating samples of their sea salt (the Real Salt brand) and seasonings for giveaways at Go Raw DC. To me, stir-fried portobello mushrooms and sweet onions taste best with Real Salt onion sea salt and cayenne pepper.
